A Volunteer Program Tailored to the Exhibition
We developed the volunteer program with the specific characteristics of the exhibition and the venue in mind. artNESZ is responsible for designing the volunteer concept, recruiting and selecting participants, training them, and coordinating the program. The concept goes beyond traditional exhibition supervision: it simultaneously supports the operational implementation of the project, enhances the visitor experience, and fosters the development of the next generation of professionals in the cultural sector. In addition to tasks that support the exhibition’s operations, it offers genuine professional experience to those who wish to become more familiar with the world of contemporary visual arts.
On March 27, 2026, representing Volunteer Art Programs (VAP), we attended the Önkéntes Szemle (Volunteering Review) Conference, hosted by the Empathy Community Space in Budapest. The conference took place in a particularly timely context, providing an opportunity for celebration, reflection, and future outlook.
3 days, 42 art venues – nearly 1,000 participants – 12 different art walking routes – 7 extra programs – 5 invited guests – this is how the third ART WEEKEND BUDAPEST can be summed up in numbers.
During the festival, held on the first weekend of Advent, institutional exhibition spaces, contemporary galleries, studios, and alternative exhibition spaces participating in the program opened their doors to the general public. There were many individual visitors, but more people than ever before chose to take part in the one-and-a-half to two-hour art walks, which took place every day from Friday to Sunday at different times and along different routes.
Six months before the event, the last major contemporary art event of the year promises to break records - In the heat of summer, the date still seems a long way off, but preparations for the 3rd ART WEEKEND BUDAPEST (AWB) are already in full swing. In keeping with tradition, contemporary art lovers and visitors interested in the arts are welcome to join the program at participating institutional exhibition spaces, contemporary galleries, studios, and alternative exhibition spaces on the first weekend of Advent, November 28-30, 2025. This year's theme, "Seeing and Being Seen," promises to be a great success, as exactly six months before the event, more venues than in previous years have already indicated their intention to participate. The basic concept of AWB remains unchanged from previous years. During the three-day, free event, the participating institutional exhibition spaces, contemporary galleries, studios, and alternative exhibition spaces will be open to the general public and can be visited either as part of organized art walks or individually. The iconic 1.5-2-hour "tours" run from Friday to Sunday, at different times and routes each day, and participants can take part in mini-tours of three or four exhibitions close to each other. This year's theme: "To see and be seen" It promises to be a great success, as exactly six months before the event, more venues than in previous years have already indicated their intention to participate.
On October 19, 2023, it opened its doors to the public for the 13th time. With nearly 100 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and 50 professional and social events, Art Market Budapest is a traditional and popular fixture on the European art calendar. Despite the challenges of recent years, it has served art lovers without interruption for 12 years.
