artNESZ’s Art Volunteer Program for the POWER LINES Exhibition

In connection with the POWER LINES – Mercedes-Benz Art Collection exhibition, which will be on view in Budapest in the summer of 2026, artNESZ has developed a new art volunteer and professional internship program related to the exhibition’s operations.

A Volunteer Program Tailored to the Exhibition

We developed the volunteer program with the specific characteristics of the exhibition and the venue in mind. artNESZ is responsible for designing the volunteer concept, recruiting and selecting participants, training them, and coordinating the program. The concept goes beyond traditional exhibition supervision: it simultaneously supports the operational implementation of the project, enhances the visitor experience, and fosters the development of the next generation of professionals in the cultural sector. In addition to tasks that support the exhibition’s operations, it offers genuine professional experience to those who wish to become more familiar with the world of contemporary visual arts.

The program is implemented as part of the Volunteer in Art Programs (VAP) platform operated by artNESZ, which aims to provide cultural institutions, exhibitions, and art projects with a team of well-prepared volunteers and interns, while also supporting future cultural professionals in gaining experience.

What does the program offer participants?

One of the program’s greatest strengths is that participants not only contribute to the operation of the exhibition but also gain real professional experience.

There are two volunteer positions available:

  • • As an exhibition assistant, your role is to enhance the visitor experience, help ensure the smooth operation of the exhibition, and maintain a safe environment for the artworks.
  • • As a resident intern, this is complemented by independent professional project work. Participants can work in areas such as Art Writing, Education, Journalism, or Visual Storytelling—among others—based on their own interests, under the guidance of a mentor.

The program primarily offers development opportunities to students enrolled in arts, communications, and humanities programs, but it also welcomes any applicant open to the arts who would like to gain insight into the workings of the contemporary visual arts scene.

The Mercedes-Benz International Art Collection has arrived in Hungary for the first time as part of the POWER LINES exhibition. The Mercedes-Benz Art Collection, which has been growing for nearly fifty years, comprises more than 3,000 works of art; the Budapest exhibition brings together outstanding pieces from this international collection and places them in dialogue with works by leading artists of Central and Eastern European contemporary art.

The exhibition features works by David Hockney, Sylvie Fleury, Robert Longo, Ágnes Eperjesi, Rita Süveges, and Randomroutines, among others.

The exhibition will be open to the public from May 28 to August 30, 2026, at the Merlin Cultural Space (1052 Budapest, Gerlóczy utca 4), Wednesday through Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission is free, and the exhibition is accompanied by regular guided tours and educational workshops.
