Night of Artworks Festival (MÉF) 2022

SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH THE POWER OF ART

The three-day event took place on May 26-27-28, 2022, in Budapest, at 46 venues. Those interested could choose from 95 programs.

The central theme of this year's Night of Artworks Festival was sustainability. In collaboration with partners, concepts and programs were implemented that used art to draw attention to sustainability, and specifically to microplastic pollution in Hungarian waters, in a unique and creative way. To highlight this problem, a special jewelry collection called Gömbvilág (Spherical World) was created exclusively for the festival by glass artist Luca Kohut-Görömbei.

The pieces in the collection contained microplastic particles filtered from the waters of the Danube, and the artist made all this visible through the special optics of the glass.

The festival's central exhibition, entitled "What Will Be Ours," also explored the relationship between sustainability and the visual arts. The group exhibition used a variety of media to show how the issue of sustainability can be interpreted in the 21st century through the visuality of contemporary art.
